Vacancy: Junior Full Stack Developer (UK)

Reporting to:  Head of Product Development
Location:  Manchester City Centre, United Kingdom (Hybrid) 

Salary: £28,000/year

The Role 

We are looking for a motivated Junior Full Stack Developer to join our growing Development team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone at the beginning of their software development career who is passionate about technology and eager to learn. 

You’ll work alongside experienced developers to build, maintain and enhance our next-generation SaaS platform while developing your technical skills through mentoring, training and real-world experience. 

Our technology stack includes TypeScript, React, Node.js, MongoDB and AWS services including Lambda, DynamoDB, SNS and EventBridge. While experience with some of these technologies is beneficial, we are primarily looking for enthusiastic developers with a willingness to learn. We actively support professional development, including funded AWS certifications and ongoing technical training.  

Responsibilities 

As a Junior Full Stack Developer, you will: 

  • Work alongside experienced developers to deliver new features and enhancements. 
  • Assist in developing and maintaining front-end applications using React. 
  • Support the development and maintenance of APIs and backend services. 
  • Help identify, investigate and resolve software bugs. 
  • Write clean, well-structured and maintainable code with guidance from senior team members. 
  • Contribute to unit testing and quality assurance. 
  • Help maintain and support existing applications and services. 
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning and retrospectives. 
  • Learn new technologies and development practices through mentoring and training. 
  • Collaborate with Product, QA and Support teams to understand customer requirements.  

Skills & Experience 

Essential 

  • A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. 
  • Experience with at least one modern programming language (such as TypeScript, JavaScript, C#, Java or Python). 
  • A basic understanding of web development concepts. 
  • A willingness to learn modern software development technologies and frameworks. 
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. 
  • Good communication and teamwork skills. 
  • A genuine enthusiasm for technology and continuous learning. 

Desirable 

Experience with any of the following would be advantageous, but is not essential: 

  • TypeScript 
  • React

  • REST APIs 
  • AWS or other cloud platforms 
  • Unit testing (Jest or similar)
